ETSU Bluegrass Daily & Vincent 192Our fair ended on Saturday, but we haven’t finished telling you about the great entertainment we had on stage this year.  On Friday, Aug. 27, we had Dailey & Vincent headlining, and some awesome musicians from East Tennessee State University’s ETSU Pride band opening for them.

ETSU Bluegrass Daily & Vincent 033Yes, young people can go to ETSU to study Bluegrass music!  They have a great program there, as evidenced by this great opening act. Members of this great group are: Daniel Boner, director, Bridgeton, NJ; Calder Baker, banjo, Grand Rapids, MI; Jaime Carter, bass, Spartanburg, SC; Aynsley Porchak, fiddle, Woodstock, ON, Canada; Karl Smakula, mandolin, Montrose, WV; and,  Ben Watlington, guitar, Mocksville, NC

ETSU Bluegrass Daily & Vincent 098While every member of that group brought their own special talent to the stage, most of us kept our eye on Aynsley.  Not only the audience, but I noticed when she started “Orange Blossom Special,” even two of the members of Dailey & Vincent’s group were watching from the wings.  Great job, Aynsley – and all of the ETSU Pride band members.

ETSU Bluegrass Daily & Vincent 220There isn’t a lot we can tell you about Dailey & Vincent that we haven’t told you in the past.  We’ve been fortunate to have these two (and their band) on our stage at the Appalachian Fair three times now, and from the enthusiasm of that audience, I’d be willing to say they would be welcomed back here any time. We’ve also seen them at the Paramount in Bristol, and Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, Tenn. Each person in that band has the potential of being a one-man show.  But, they work so well together, it would be hard to imagine any one of them being there without the rest.

ETSU Bluegrass Daily & Vincent 205Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent from the band.  The both do vocals, Jamie also plays guitar.  Darrin plays bass, and sings. Jeff Parker is the comedian. He plays mandolin, sings, and is just funny.  The audience loves him. Christian Davis is one of the best bass singers I have ever heard. He plays guitar, too.  B.J. Cherryholmes is on fiddle. He’s awesome. And Jessie Baker plays banjo, and he sings, too.  He does some great impersonations.  When this group gets on stage,  you know you are going to run out of night before you are done listening.  The show is always that good.  They never disappoint.

Going to close out with a few more photos form the show. If you guys have never seen this group on stage, I hope you will get the opportunity sometime soon. You will not be sorry.
